Although there are two methods of obtaining SEO, I have opted not to cover paid search listings and will only discuss organic SEO. Not that there is anything wrong with paid search listings, I just don’t see why an explanation of how to pay to get at the top of the search results (in a shaded box labeled sponsored links) is necessary. So, as I was saying, organic SEO…

Perhaps the most important thing to consider with this campaign is that an overnight success is not feasible. In order for you to optimize search engines organically, you need to use as many different forms of keywords as possible (thesaurus), create content that is appealing and will draw attention and you need to regularly refresh the content on your page(s). If your content does not sound interesting, why would someone read your article when they can go to a top dog website (i.e. technorati, techcrunch, etc) and get the same material? Use creativity with your titles and with your wording of the content. With regards to refreshing your content regularly, you will attract search engine crawlers and generally be rewarded a higher rank as a result. In addition to being creative with your content and posting regularly, linking to other sites and perfecting your navigation will be a big help too. A site that a user can interact with easily is key if you want to keep your readers content and get return visitors.

Besides that, keep in mind that these suggestions are my opinion(s) based on research and experience of my own with some of my other sites. To better optimize your SEO, read, visit reputable sites, create and refresh content as much as you can. And, be patient, it may take a little over a month but you will be proud of the masterpiece that you perfected once it is optimized. Lastly, I would like to extend my apologies for my unintended delay and neglect of this site. I have been a little busy bee trying to manage these other domains and implement all the new discoveries I come across every day so I have not been present on this site. I intend on trying my best not to let this happen again. How high is your RPC?

If you g g google or yahooooooo!, you may have heard this talk of RPC and how high how or low your average revenue per click is. As an adsense entrepenuer, your main focus is on your number of clicks and the amount of money that each click is worth. Although both of these numerical values are dependant on many other factors (CTR, CPM, ad unit impressions, location of ads, number of ads, and type of ads), for simplistic purposes, we will focus on ‘how to get higher rpc’ and then, possibly, tweak our ads a bit and see if any change results. This rationalization is due, of course, to the fact that the main goal is to get more revenue. So, let’s get more money per click (hence, resulting in more revenue) by targeting key words that have high prices on them. As soon as we have these expensive keywords, then we can modify their placement, design and type.

You paying atttention?

To shop for these luxury keywords, we will go to a Yahoo Seach Marketing site where you will find a box labeled tools to the right side of the middle of the page. In the tools menu, 2nd from the top of the list of tools, click on the View Bids Tool and a separate screen will pop up. Simply type in some sample keywords that would relate, in some way, to your site and its content. Think of random keywords and throw in some locations (i.e. Las Vegas condos) to see if a specific city/state would generate more RPC than another city/state. Again, just play around with it and see which words have higher bids. These words with the higher prices on them are, of course, the words that you will want to target in your content.

So, now that you, have these pricey keywords, let’s figure out how they will deem relevant for our users and create some content with them and about them. So as not to abuse or sound plain, use synonyms for the keywords (and all your words) instead of having the same word(s) over and over. You know, different but the same type stuff. Emerging Business and Technology Developments

Next week, in San Francisco, CA, the Web 2.0 Conference will be held from November the 7-9 at the Palace Hotel (just blocks from the Embarcadero, China Town and Union Square). With a main focus on emerging business and technology developments, this conference will be extremely helpful for anyone interested in running (or continuing to run) a business in this highly Web (internet) dependent market. This conference will also discuss the financiers (VC’s and such) who fund startup companies who, in the midst of technological evolution, may, have to change their funding ways.

Everyone who is anyone in the world wide web should be there and you should too if you are interested in staying up to date with the current modes of business and business development. Just like the rest of us, I don’t know exactly what the future of this thing that we call web 2.0 has in store or when this economic high will wear off (or even bust!) but I do know that I am going to stay on the pursuit of “getting while the getting is good” as long as it lasts. Not to be confused with the imitation meat meal in a can, it’s Spam. Many web developers are finding themselves constantly deleting spam instead of creating content and working on their sites. Spam is a real problem on the web and has resulted in many laws. There are federal and state laws against spam and each state has different views governing spam so check this site out for more information. But, thanks to Akismet, we no longer have to fight these feable attempts at advertisement alone. Get Automattic Kismet (Akismet for short) and can that spam. The akismet site has great reviews and explanations so visit it and enjoy your spam free work.

wtf is web 2.0?

If you are like me, you may be (or once were) baffled by the term, Web 2.0. To my understanding, web 2.0 is a title given to the current state of the internet’s technology. Amazingly genius programs, applications and features currently being introduced to the web public are great examples of Web 2.0. Some of these would include sites like digg, kayak, code igniter, flikr, huckabuck, heyamigo and many, many more. I think the key is involving your user more and making every feature geared towards ease of use and interaction. In this day and age, everyone is getting on the computer so we need to make our sites easy and rewarding to use for everyone.

Again, I am new to this so I am still learning and still have plenty more to learn.. I guess what I’m saying is that I would appreciate advice, knowledge, comments, anything.
